Welcome to my little piece of the web! Nothing too exciting here but I wanted a place to post some things mostly related to Amateur Radio and I got tired of dealing with all of the restrictions of those “free” hosting sites like QRZ.com so I’m moving all of my info here.
Originally licensed in 1994 while serving in the United States Marine Corps. I sort of went offline for a while and recently got back into the swing of things by finally releasing my Advanced Class License and upgrading to Extra in July 2010.
I’m currently using a Kenwood TS-520 and a Yaesu FT-857D for both Phone and Digital Modes. I use a Signalink USB for my digital modes interface which actually works great with the old 520. You can usually find me working JT-65 on 40 – 10 meters except for the WARC bands. Pics of the shack equipment will eventually show up in my photo album.
I recently acquired a Yaesu FT-920 and all I can say is WOW! I plan on switching to this rig once I get it all set up. I’ve made a few contacts on it already and received great signal and audio reports using a Heil Pro 6 headset. I still need to work on the power output though. My peak reading meter only shows about a max of about 80W using voice which is typical but I need more! I’ve got the CAT control set up but I need to connect it to one of my Signalink USB’s to get it on the air for digital modes. It’s a work in progress!
